Just want to throw a quick reminder out there to actors (including myself) of the reason we do theater: because WE LOVE IT.  All too often in L.A., actors do theater TO BE SEEN. We postcard casting directors (and other industry folk) and hit them up on social media, asking them to come check out our show and see just how awesome we are.  Well, this just in: not everybody goes to see theater, industry or not.  So remember to do it for the right reasons.... it's a role you've always wanted to play; you want try out original material; you want challenge yourself in a role you wouldn't normally be cast in.  And OF COURSE invite industry to come see you and all your amazingness, but instead of lamenting at the end of the run that you sent out a zillion postcards and not a one CD or producer or director came.... remember this:  they may not have been in the audience, but they saw that flyer you sent, which means they know you are doing something creative, staying busy, honing your skills, and being proactive in your career. :)

Your timing in sharing this could not have been better! Today's definitely one of those days when I needed a reminder about exactly how this process is fun - and while I'm not an actor myself, you're 100% right!
Great point Sheila... and sometimes there are industry people in the audience afterall. But either way, it's the love of everything that the theater encompasses that feeds the fire in us. I hope you're well. (By the way, I'm sure you ARE amazing). :)
Chris, I'm in Worcester for the long weekend, so yes.... AMAZING!! :)
Hear freakin' hear! Although I love film and working in it, I always go back to theatre because it makes me feel like a rockstar! I love audiences and their reactions and getting to be in the moment with other actors without someone yelling "cut". I have known several actors who hate theatre and it shows in their work. If you don't love theatre, you don't love acting and if you don't love acting, why do it?
